Math 65

Math 65:  Elementary Algebra II

Specifically, students who complete Math 65:  Elementary Algebra II will be able to:

       model and solve applied, real–world, and theoretical mathematical problems using the  basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and simplification of polynomial, rational, and radical expressions. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6

       use techniques of factoring to set up and solve applied, real–world, and theoretical mathematical problems. 4, 5, 6

   investigate and solve problems involving quadratic equations using a variety of methods including factoring, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and graphing. 4, 5, 6, 7

       explain how the techniques for solving quadratic equations are related and be able to interpret results obtained by each method, including complex numbers. 1. 2, 3

       solve equations using symbolic, graphic and numeric strategies and translate among written descriptions, symbolic, graphic and numeric representations of quadratic functions. 4
